Slow and Steady...But Mostly Slow

Operation: Stay the Course is chugging along. I know that I'll have more success at developing better habits if I focus on building them slowly, so this month I've tried to make loading/running the dishwasher every night a habit. And so far it's...not. It makes it easier in the mornings knowing I'm not already two steps behind. My biggest issue is that I wait too long to do it. We'll eat dinner, pile all the dishes in the sink, start watching TV, giving baths, etc. and before I know it it's after 10 and I just want to go to bed. The last thing I want to do is the dishes! So I'm trying harder to do it right after dinner, get it done, then I can enjoy my evening.

I'm also tossing around the idea of giving one of the kids the "job" of putting away the silverware. I know Riley can do it, he's done it for me lots of times. But perhaps it's time Princess Brenna starts getting her little hands dirty and pitching in?

Do you have set chores for your kids? What about an allowance?

My new 'rule'....never go to bed with a sink full of dishes.... I've done fairly well...but like you said, by 10:00 I'm ready for bed! :)

Hubby does the dishes. I don't care when it gets done, as long as he does it. I TRY not to complain if the dishes stack up... as long as he does them. I hate dishes.
