Mini-Rant and a Menu

I'm not sure if it's because I'm tired, pregnant or a combination of a million other things but I'm crabby today. Not with my kids, but with other moms/bloggers. I hopped over to Orgjunkie to see the different menu's and get ideas and had to quit. I'm annoyed. When did being a good parent become synonymous with living like your from the early 1900's? I'm getting so tired of reading about how I should homeschool my children (some of my best influences in life were teachers, why would I deprive my kids of that?), never eat any sugar and certainly don't feed it to my kids (Seriously? What's a birthday party without cupcakes?) and steel cut my own oatmeal (have you HEARD of Quaker?? They do it for you!)

We're all just doing the best we can with what we have. As moms, the LAST thing we need is more guilt from each other. So I will continue to let my kids drink chocolate milk constantly, watch Nick Jr. continuously, and force them to go to a public school every morning when they are old enough. And I will support you if you choose to do the same. :-)

Off the soapbox! Here's the menu, pretty simple and will provide lots of leftovers for minimal cooking...

Lasagna
Chili
Enchilada Casserole
Hamburgers, Fries and Corn on the Cob (I think I'll make sloppy joes for me, but no one else likes them, so hamburgers for everyone else!)

Tonight we'll probably have left over BBQ chicken I made yesterday with BBQ sauce from Gates in Kansas City. I'd like to post pictures but I can't find the cable for the camera...

  1. That's another negative for blogging. I think sometimes what people do comes off as what they think everyone should do. Just do what works for your family!!

  2. Agreed! there's this thing called moderation. I do like steel cut oats better than Quaker though, I feel there's more flavor and healthier than the instant oats, but don't usually have the time to make oatmeal from scratch... (the nuked version is so much faster!)
