I'm moving closer to my second trimester so I'm hoping the pregnancy fatigue goes away quickly! I have so many things I need to post and no energy to actually sit and do it, but hopefully I'll get back on the ball this week. We'll see!
Here's our menu for the week!
Monday: BBQ Beef Sandwiches and Roasted potato wedges
Tuesday: Smarter Fettuccine Alfredo
Wednesday: Leftovers
Thursday: Chicken Enchiladas
Friday: Pizza and breadsticks
Need more menu ideas? Check out orgjunkie's website!
**I scheduled this to post on Monday and it didn't....weird! So it's late!

Olive Juice
Today marks the start of my 9th week of pregnancy. I've tried to enjoy each little bit since I know that this is most likely my last time being pregnant. I've tried to convince Jeff that we could be the next Duggar family, but he's not going for it. So far I've felt pretty good. I've had the normal first trimester exhaustion (around one o'clock I become worthless!) and bouts of nausea. This baby must be a health nut because I'm craving foods like tomatoes, grapes and nectarines. I cannot wait until this summer to visit the farmers markets up here and eat fresh sweet corn and tomatoes to my hearts content! During my other two pregnancies I craved chocolate milk, but that - along with hot dogs and chocolate chip cookies - makes me SICK this time around. Hopefully those habits will follow me after pregnancy as well!
My little bean is supposedly the size of a green olive right now and has officially become a fetus. Jeff is determined it's a boy and Riley will not accept anything other than a little brother. I believe his exact words were, "No more stinky little girl babies like Brenna!" I really don't care either way. I have determined that we are not telling ANYONE the baby's name until after it's born. I like to refer to it as "Baby Siobhan" (pronounced She-Von) after my favorite American Idol contestant Siobhan Magnus. She is just so cute and wonderfully weird! And what a rockstar name! Siobhan Magnus! That name has been seriously veto'd by the husband, so it will remain a nickname for now. Especially if Siobhan ends up being a he-Von! Get it? She-von, He-von? HA! No? Oh, whatever. :-)

Apparently I'm right off of Highway 136...
Tee hee! Saw this on the way home from Kansas City. Bethany Iowa. Has to be an awesome place, right?
Seeing my name on big signs never gets old. :-)

Mini-Rant and a Menu
I'm not sure if it's because I'm tired, pregnant or a combination of a million other things but I'm crabby today. Not with my kids, but with other moms/bloggers. I hopped over to Orgjunkie to see the different menu's and get ideas and had to quit. I'm annoyed. When did being a good parent become synonymous with living like your from the early 1900's? I'm getting so tired of reading about how I should homeschool my children (some of my best influences in life were teachers, why would I deprive my kids of that?), never eat any sugar and certainly don't feed it to my kids (Seriously? What's a birthday party without cupcakes?) and steel cut my own oatmeal (have you HEARD of Quaker?? They do it for you!)
We're all just doing the best we can with what we have. As moms, the LAST thing we need is more guilt from each other. So I will continue to let my kids drink chocolate milk constantly, watch Nick Jr. continuously, and force them to go to a public school every morning when they are old enough. And I will support you if you choose to do the same. :-)
Off the soapbox! Here's the menu, pretty simple and will provide lots of leftovers for minimal cooking...
Lasagna
Chili
Enchilada Casserole
Hamburgers, Fries and Corn on the Cob (I think I'll make sloppy joes for me, but no one else likes them, so hamburgers for everyone else!)
Tonight we'll probably have left over BBQ chicken I made yesterday with BBQ sauce from Gates in Kansas City. I'd like to post pictures but I can't find the cable for the camera...

Menu Plan Monday
After consuming tons of pizza, chips and cake this weekend it will be nice to get back to a 'regular' eating schedule!
Monday -chili
Tuesday- leftover chili (it's even better the second day in my opinion!)
Wednesday - Lasagna
Thursday - Spanish Rice Dinner
Friday - Leftover Buffet
(After reviewing this, it's fairly clear that my tomato craving is in full swing. My poor family will be eating tomato-based foods for the next eight months! And I guarantee I'll have a glass of chocolate milk with each meal. That's how this pregnant girl rolls...)
