Songs My Kids Mess Up

Pie hole! Pie hole! It's off to work we go!

We listen to a lot of music in our house. Usually my kids have no idea what the lyrics really are and it can be HILARIOUS to listen to what they are actually singing. Here are a few examples...

"Lately I've been laughing Christmas eve....lately I've been laughing really hard...."  Counting Stars By Brenna
(Real lyrics are "Lately I've been, I've been losing sleep....But, baby I've been, I've been praying hard..."

"Pie hole! Pie hole!" Hi Ho (from Snow White) by Gracie
(Real lyrics are, of course, "Hi ho! Hi ho!")

"I don't care what you're going to do!" Let it Go by Gracie
(Should be "I don't care what they're going to say")

"I got one last prom production. I got one last prom production." Problem by Riley
(Real lyrics "I got one less problem without ya. I got one less problem without ya.")

What song lyrics have your kids (or YOU) misheard?

Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

My husband is fortunate enough to work for a company that really seems to care about their employees. For this year's employee picnic, we were treated to dinner and a baseball game at our local minor league stadium! We got t-shirts, batting helmets, baseball caps...they spoiled us. It was incredibly hot and our little ones didn't last long before having meltdowns, so we didn't stick around for the game. But we had a good time!

Riley and Swoop! Brenna was TERRIFIED of him!

I swear we were all there. But Riley is the only one who would let me take a picture!
And the Silverhawks have an amazing stadium now. I'd highly recommend a visit to the Cove!

Super Boy

Super Boy (And his sidekick Lucy) headed out for a swim.

We have a kiddie pool.

Not sure the floaties are useful, but you should never question a Super Hero on his uniform.

First Day of School

Quit being silly and look at me!

Look at ME, not Spongebob.

I can't tell what your sign says...
Come back and let me take a good picture...please!

Forget it, let's just go. (At the school putting stuff in his locker!)
Despite the traumatic event of a little boy getting a bloody nose on the playground and the woman who was "not very nice" and wouldn't let him finish his lunch, it was a good day.
He thinks he'll go back tomorrow.

Riley's Fourth Birthday

A few weeks ago we celebrated Riley's fourth birthday. I can't believe he's four already! My little man is growing up.

My friend Myra made this amazing cake. Check out more of her work here!

Blowing out the candles!

Oh look! ANOTHER train!

Lost the Battle

Brenna get off the train table.

I mean it, don't stand on the train table.

Begging won't help. I said get down.

I don't care if it's your 'stage' where you perform. I said get down.

Oh, I give up.

As you can tell - these pictures were taken on two separate days. This is a daily battle at our house.:-)

Future Fabio

Riley fell asleep in the chair one morning and I found him like this:

I'm not sure which is funnier - the fact that his shirt came completely unbuttoned or that D Dog is in the exact same pose. Crazy kid.

My Son...

  • Has many imaginary pets which include: a rabbit named Harvey, a dog named Carrot, and a cat named Dat. This is in addition to all his stuffed animals: Hippo, D-Dog, Tiger the Lion, Giraffe, and B-Bear.
  • Has mastered potty training and EVERYTIME he poops I hear him yelling from the bathroom, "Mommy! Come here! I have a surprise for you!" he then tells me to close my eyes really tight and slides his naked butt cheeks off the toilet to show me the surprise...you guessed it - poop. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
  • Frequently has me tie Brenna's pink blanket around his neck so he can be a super hero, then follows me around the house saying, "Do you need help?"
  • Can talk like a pirate.
  • Is determined to one day catch our cat and carry her. He caught her once and 'carried' her with his hands wrapped around her neck. She's become a little faster since that's happened.
  • Will lean back against his plastic kiddie pool and sigh, saying, "Aahhh, this is nice"
  • Adores his sister until she touches his trains, then all hell breaks loose.
  • Has no qualms about walking around naked when our windows are open. I have no idea where he gets that *ahem*
  • Plays an imaginary tuba
  • Is just simply the greatest thing since sliced bread.

How YOU doing?

It seems that I tend to blog about things and then just abruptly stop...(sorry mom!) so here is an update on the Rudd's thus far...

Riley is sleeping in his own bed! It was much easier than I thought it would be. I guess it was just time. He still puts up a little protest, but is content when you agree to read three books and watch some episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine. (Yes, my 2 1/2 yr old son has a tv in his room. I swore my kids would NOT have tv's in their room, especially so young! But it keeps him in his bed and allows us to watch something OTHER than Thomas and Friends.) He's such a good kid - says "please" and "thank you" and helps out with his sister. Little boys don't come any sweeter than this.

Brenna is a hibernating bear right now. She's moved up to eating 6 oz at a time and is CONSTANTLY SLEEPING! Last night, she slept from about 5 pm to 4:30 the next morning! She's growing like a weed and is so so sweet for the few hours she is awake. :-) She may look like her daddy, but she's as photogenic as her mom. Which is not at all. She's so precious when she smiles so I tried to catch a picture of her this afternoon and this is what I got...

Terrified Brenna
Brenna giving me the ol' stink eye.
And doing her best dead possum impression.
I did get ONE semi-blurry, but super sweet one. It showcases her pretty red hair.

Jeff is doing really well. Working hard among all the layoffs his company is doing. The RV industry is really awful in Elkhart County right now - the NY Times even did a story on how Elkhart is the "white hot center of the meltdown in the American economy". (Click here to read the story) Jeff works in IT (a.k.a. the computer guy) and not in the actual factories, so he does have some job security. I'm grateful to have a computer nerd for a husband! He's a good man and an awesome father.
Me - well, I'm good. I some how thought it would be a good idea to sign up for the craft fair at work, because I don't have enough on my plate with two kids, a house and a full time job. So I've been making cards like a mad woman. It's next week, so we'll see how I do! I've had some requests for my stuff already! I just hope I don't disappoint! I'll try and post some pictures of my creations before they are sold.
The whole "weight loss Wednesday" has been put on the back burner. I could come up with a thousand excuses why, but honestly my inner brat has won out recently and I just don't want to eat well and exercise. As much as I know I should and as good as I felt when I was going strong! I do really really really want to do the 5k that Mandy Hall is holding in March in honor of her son Connor. I am going to do it. I just need to get my brat in line. Like the Japanese proverb, Fall down seven times - stand up eight!
So what's up with you?

(p.s. how do you like the look of the Mighty B's blog?? I did the header myself! It only took me about four hours and a million google searches for tutorials on how to use Photoshop! HA! But now that I have it figured out, (sort of) I can't wait to make more! Start a blog! I'll design your header for you!! Only $29.95!)

Ali Edwards is doing another "Week in My Life" series and I've decided to participate with this one. I'm going to take random pictures of my daily life all week, then make a book. Just a little snapshot of what my life is right now. Here are the pictures from day one.

Brenna and Tigger

Ms. Bren went for her two month appointment on Thursday. She's now 23 inches long and 12.5 lbs! She's definitly growing so fast. She had her first round of shots and hasn't done so well with them. They didn't seem to phase Riley when he was that age, but my little girl has been crabby and running a fever. Hopefully she'll feel better soon. I took a picture of her in her swing - it's the only place she would sleep when I brought her home.

And here's a funny picture from about a week ago.

Riley found the Tigger suit Grandma Nog got him a while back. He wanted to wear it to Carla's this morning, but mom said no. (Yes, I'm that mean...he had already worn his pajamas there this week. I didn't want her to start thinking I had no control over my kid...but I'm sure she's already figured out that I'm a pushover when it comes to him!) So anyhoo, here's pictures of my Tigger.

Today..(a.k.a. Boys are Gross Pt. 2)

Me: Riley, can I take pictures of you helping mommy fold laundry?

Riley: Yeah, mommy.

Me: Okay, show me how you do it.

First you get it out of the basket.

Then you shake it out.

Then you fold it.

(Note the orange thumb from eating cheetos...didn't catch that until now...)

*******

Riley: Mommy, pick nose?

Me: You want me to take a picture of you picking your nose?

Riley: Yeah!

Ah, he will make some lucky woman a fine husband someday!

Sneaky Snake

I don't know how many times I've told Riley to stay out of the baby's chair. Today I turned around and found his little body scrunched up and sleeping soundly in the pretty pink bouncer. Little stinker.
